We recently spent 3 days in Barcelona with Henry (3.5 years old) and Andrew (1.5 years old). It was our first stop on our 10-day journey in Europe, so we were definitely jet-lagged, but we just said: “we are in Barcelona time!” (Everyone is up until wee hours of the morning!) We just embraced the late nights and mid-day fun!
Barcelona Zoo
You know you are in Barcelona with kids when… you go to the zoo. This zoo was pretty cool though!
So excited to be at the park where the zoo is!
Beautiful green-house like building
Walk through the park to the zoo
Beautiful street on the walk to the Zoo
Impressed with the zebras at Barcelona Zoo

Just pretending to be one of those IG girls (not pictured: my children running away getting lost and screaming)
La Boqueria Market
This market is right off of Las Ramblas street and had so much colorful produce, meat, seafood and treats!
Meat on a stick!
Park Guell
A very symbolic picture of our experience with Park Guell.
This is a sore subject. 🙂 We had tickets for 7:30 pm one night. I used Google Maps to get us there via train. We got off the train station, ask someone for directions. We end up at Park Guell, but at the top of the park, not where the Gaudi’s house was. By the time we got there, the park was closing. We decided to go back the next day (this was my #1 place I wanted to see), but of course, the wait was too long to do with 2 kids. We made the best by walking around the park, watched the bubble show, and got ice cream!

Our hardcore family shot. lol
Ginger bread house!! (The only way Henry got excited to visit a Gaudi)
More gingerbread house!
The grounds around the area was gorgeous! (Trying to look at it from the bright side)
Bubbles!!
And there was an amazing bubble man!!
Sat here for a while – thanks to this amazing entertainment!
Couldn’t get into Park Guell but these smiles are worth anything
Walk up to Park Guell (which is different from the Gaudi’s House you pay and get tickets for). Learned the hard way to not trust Google Maps all the time!

Montjuïc Cable Car
We took the cable car up to the castle and walked down. Definitely recommend and easy to do with kids!
Riding this cable car to the top with amazing views and a castle!
Castle at the top of the cable car
We got lunch and spent a lot of time at this park – which is in the middle of the walk down from the mountain after the cable car.
Henry’s favorite activity at this park was watching the pigeons
Andrew’s signature move/face when throwing a ball (his favorite activity)
Brothers – same pose. Henry was so hot, he kept wanting us to pour water on him.

Las Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter
This is the area we stayed in, and it was perfect, minus all the noise at night. It was so nice to walk out of our “apartment style hotel” (which is basically an Airbnb) and be able to walk right onto Las Ramblas street, where I spent most of my days as a 20-year-old when I would come here. (I had a similar schedule back then without the jet lag of staying up until 4 am and waking up around noon…)
Beautiful architecture in front of our hotel

Evening Fun in Barcelona with Kids
Since we were jet lagged and awake at night, we took advantage and stayed out later than usual. We went to the beach and had dinner on the beach one night, and we went to a Flamenco and dinner show the other night!
Taking advantage of jet lag and having dinner on the beach
Flamenco dinner show – both kids loved it! (Andrew lasted about 30 min and Henry didn’t want to leave until the end!)
Beautiful wall near our night watching flamenco
Fiesta!
There you have it!
Despite the jet-lag, we had so much fun in Barcelona and wished that we stayed for a couple of more days so we could actually go into Park Guell and go to Familia Sagrada! We wanted a full beach day too. Have you been to Barcelona with kids? What were some of your favorite things to do, and what did you wish you did differently? Let us know in comments!
